Learning 2.0 for Tamara

Today I am learning how to create a blog. I just took the PLCMC 7 & 1/2 Habits online tutorial. With this tutorial we were given the assignment to create a blog. They even gave us a topic to make is easier! Here I am going to list the 7 & 1/2 Habits and tell which are easiest and which are the hardest for me.

1. Begin with the end in mind- This is easy for me to do, but I can never get to the end part, which make is hard. I am very good about setting goals for myself, but I am a very bad procrastinator, and never seem to complete the goal.
2. Accept responsibility for your own learning- I find this to be very hard. Time is a big issue with this. Between work and taking care of my family I don't have time to invest in myself. The only "me" time that I have is at night, after I take my shower, I will get in the bed and read for about 30 minutes.
3. View problems as challenges- This one is very easy for me. I always view a problem as a challenge. I try never to let others think that they are giving me a problem. I feel that looking at unpleasant issues as a challenge is the professional way of handling any situation.
4. Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner- I think that this would be easier for me if I felt that I had the time for myself to learn. I know that I have the confidence in any thing that I do. I am not trying to sound "cocky" it is just how I feel.
5. Create your own learning tool box- I find this to be very easy. I work in a library. I have any resource I want, right at my finger tips!
6. Use technology to your advantage- I feel that I am the only 25 year old out there that doesn't get all of the new technology out there. Honestly it scares me, but I know that I need to learn it, if not my children will be able to run circles around me.
7. Teach and Mentor others- I know that this is a hard one. I do not like to teach others. I do not like to do any type of public speaking.
7 1/2. Play- Easy! Who doesn't like to play!

I love the idea of taking responsibility for your own learning... I am a teacher and see very little of that today... I wish you all the best in the world in your endeavors. :-)
